Honoring John H. Connors: Our Annual Veterans Day Blood Drive

Every year on Veterans Day, The Connors Agency gathers with our community to honor the memory of our father, John H. Connors, by giving back in a way that reflects the life he lived: serving others. 

We invite you to join us for our annual Veterans Day Blood Drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. 

Wednesday, November 11 

12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

In Memory of John H. Connors 

John H. Connors, known to family and friends as Jack, was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country before beginning his career in insurance. 

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Jack and our mother, Kathleen Hebert Connors, started The Connors Agency in 1955. What began as a small family business grew over the years into the family-owned and operated agency it is today. 

But Jack’s commitment to serving others extended far beyond the insurance business. 

He served as Mayor of Mechanicville from 1960 to 1968, President of the New York State Council of Mayors, and on numerous community boards and civic organizations. He was a member of organizations including the School Board, St. Paul’s Church, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, and Rotary. 

His life was defined by service to his country, his community, his customers, and his family. 

Holding our Veterans Day blood drive in Jack’s memory is one way we can continue that tradition of service.

Blood donations are needed every day for patients undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatment, recovering from traumatic injuries, and facing medical emergencies.

If you’ve received a COVID-19 vaccine, you may still be eligible to donate blood. According to the American Red Cross, eligibility can depend on the vaccine received and other factors. If you have questions about your eligibility, visit the American Red Cross website or contact them before your appointment.
